Thinking, Research & Reflection

A curated collection of professional thinking, research and reflection — grounded in experience and a commitment to evidence-informed practice.

This hub brings together the threads of my professional thinking in one place. Whether you are interested in governance and accountability, mental health and criminal justice, academic leadership or the experience of working across cultures and institutions, you will find relevant material here — alongside links to the fuller work behind each piece.

Reflections on what effective governance actually requires — the human judgements behind institutional frameworks, the courage to ask difficult questions, and the relationship between accountability and trust.

Mental Health & Criminal Justice

Research and professional insight into the intersection of mental health and the criminal justice system — including doctoral research on Liaison and Diversion nurses and published work on forensic mental health practice.

Academic Leadership & Teaching

Thinking on what it means to lead in academic contexts — curriculum development, cross-cultural teaching, the relationship between research and practice, and the responsibilities of academic professionals.

Leadership Across Institutions

Reflections on what leadership looks like when it spans very different institutional contexts — the values that travel, the skills that transfer, and the importance of remaining grounded in purpose.

This doctoral study used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis to explore the lived experiences of the nurses who work within these services: how they make sense of their professional identity, navigate institutional tensions and find meaning in demanding work.
