Work With Me

Open to Meaningful Contribution

I welcome conversations about roles, partnerships and engagements where I can contribute with purpose — across leadership, academic practice, governance and research.

Dr Sithandazile Masuku — professional leadership

My career has been built across healthcare, education, governance and public service — in the UK, Zimbabwe, Singapore and the UAE. I bring a combination of clinical grounding, academic leadership, research expertise and governance experience that is genuinely unusual. I am interested in roles and partnerships where that breadth is an asset, not an anomaly.

I am currently based in the UAE, where I lead quality assurance and regulatory compliance for a private healthcare service. I remain open to senior leadership appointments, academic roles, board and governance opportunities, and research collaborations — in the UAE and internationally.

Areas of Engagement

Where I Can Contribute

01

Senior Leadership & Executive Appointments

Senior leadership appointments in healthcare, higher education or public service, where broad cross-sector experience and strategic capability are valued.

I am interested in senior leadership appointments where I can contribute at a strategic level — shaping direction, building capability and driving quality. My experience spans NHS governance, contributions to academic programme development and quality, and private healthcare quality assurance. I bring both the professional credentials and the cross-sector perspective that complex leadership roles require.

02

Academic & University Leadership

Academic leadership roles in nursing, health sciences or related disciplines, combining strategic responsibility with a commitment to teaching quality and research.

I have contributed to academic programme development, curriculum delivery, teaching, academic quality and the education of healthcare professionals across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK and Singapore. I am interested in academic leadership roles that combine strategic responsibility with a genuine commitment to teaching quality and research development.

03

Board & Governance Opportunities

Board and governance roles in healthcare, education or public service organisations, where experience in institutional oversight and accountability is relevant.

I have served as an NHS Partner Governor, contributing to institutional governance, accountability and oversight within the NHS. I understand what effective governance requires — the ability to ask difficult questions, scrutinise performance and contribute to strategic direction without losing sight of the organisation's purpose. I welcome governance roles where that experience is relevant.

04

Advisory & Institutional Development

Strategic advisory, quality assurance consultancy or institutional development work in healthcare or higher education.

My experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance and accreditation — across NHS and private healthcare settings — positions me well for advisory work. I am interested in engagements where I can help organisations strengthen their governance frameworks, quality systems or institutional development processes.

05

Research & Academic Collaboration

Research partnerships and collaborative projects at the intersection of mental health, criminal justice, nursing education and healthcare governance.

My doctoral research on Liaison and Diversion nurses, combined with published work in mental health and nursing practice, gives me a strong foundation for research collaboration. I am interested in partnerships that extend this work — particularly at the intersection of mental health, criminal justice and healthcare governance.

06

Teaching, Speaking & Professional Engagement

Guest lectures, keynote contributions and professional development engagements drawing on experience across healthcare, education and governance.

I am available for guest lectures, keynote addresses and professional development facilitation — drawing on my experience across healthcare, education and governance. I am particularly interested in engagements that bring together practitioners and academics, or that address the challenges of leading across complex institutional environments.

How I Work

Principles That Guide My Practice

My approach to professional work has been shaped by experience across healthcare, education, governance and public service. These different environments have reinforced the importance of sound judgement, mutual respect and a willingness to listen, question and learn. I believe meaningful progress comes from combining professional knowledge with an understanding of the people and institutions involved.

People & Relationships

I believe effective leadership begins with understanding people, recognising different perspectives and building relationships grounded in trust and mutual respect. Whether working with colleagues, students or organisational leaders, I value open dialogue and shared responsibility.

Evidence & Judgement

I draw on both research and practical experience to understand challenges, question assumptions and inform decisions. Evidence matters, but so does the judgement required to apply it thoughtfully within real organisational settings.

Perspective & Collaboration

Working across different countries, cultures and professional environments has taught me that there is rarely a single way to approach a challenge. I value collaboration, welcome different perspectives and bring a willingness to look beyond familiar approaches when considering what might work best.

Let's Start a Conversation

If you are exploring a role, partnership or engagement and would like to discuss whether there might be a fit, I would be glad to hear from you.
